Cradle the
top end of the pen in one hand (to allow the top end to roll
freely) while gently rolling the pen with one finger of the
other hand. Roll in one direction. I roll
towards myself for 2 or 3 turns, pick up the pen and move it
back where it started, then roll it again.
Keep doing this starting at a low angle and ending with the pen standing almost straight up. This makes the "round over" nice and smooth. The angle isn't written in stone, make it look the way that pleases you. You need very little pressure here, It will form very easily. Use a light touch. And as I said before, take your time. |

Here is the angle
at which I end my rolling. At this point I am applying
no pressure, just gently rolling the pen between my
hands.
There probably will be a little clay that worked itself down and into the barrel hole. Remove it before baking.
